Who is a typical J.D. Byrider customer?
Our customers are hardworking men and women, and young people just starting out. They usually need a car for work. Many of them have a credit challenge—which is not surprising, because nearly 50% of Americans don’t qualify for automobile financing at conventional financial institutions or new car dealerships. We use our own financing company, and are as accommodating as possible. We want our customers to get back on the road to maximizing their opportunity for advancement.
What does "maximize their opportunity for advancement" mean?
Credit challenges can result in setbacks. We want to help our customers overcome those setbacks and begin moving forward again. We call this forward motion advancement, and it can begin with a better car and affordable financing. We offer customers payments that fit their budgets, expert service, and low-cost repairs. Plus, we provide a system that reports their good payment history so they have the chance to overcome their setbacks and get on the road in a better car today and, possibly, have opportunities to improve tomorrow. Does everyone qualify for financing?
Frankly, no. But we have trust in our customers. Unlike traditional financial institutions and new car dealerships, we work with customers to examine their current situation–not their past–to create an affordable payment plan that fits their monthly budget.
How does J.D. Byrider provide financing?
We don’t just sell cars. We work with all customers to find the best vehicles for their needs, and for their monthly budget. That’s in our best interest and the customers’. Selling a car that a customer can’t afford does neither of us any good. Simply put, we’re not just looking for a sale—we are looking for a relationship that results in customers getting affordable transportation.
What makes your cars more reliable?
We’ve been in business for over 25 years, and our company’s buyers are very picky. They look for the best and most reliable 5-to-10-year-old vehicles. They know which vehicles perform best over time and those are the ones we buy.
We don’t believe in selling a car “as is.” So, back at our service centers, we subject each vehicle to a comprehensive inspection, and we do whatever work is necessary to ensure that the car meets our high vehicle inspection standards. On average, that work costs us over $1,000 per car. In addition, each vehicle comes with a Good to Go™ Limited Warranty. And, so you know you’re buying a vehicle with a clean title, we include a branded title check from CARFAX® or Experian® with each vehicle.
What makes your program a better value for customers than others?
The J.D. Byrider program is priced fairly and equitably, and our customers receive excellent value. Typically, we begin with better vehicles. Then, we invest over $1,000, on average, in reconditioning before the sale. Reliability is critical to us. Our most favorable business outcome is for all customers to be completely happy with their cars and make timely payments through the duration of their contracts. Quality vehicles help both us and our customers - it should be a win-win for everybody.
Does J.D. Byrider provide free or discounted vehicle servicing?
Most of our dealerships provide service at no extra charge on those items covered in the warranty or extended service agreement. For items not covered, our service is usually provided at very affordable rates, which are most often the lowest cost in the neighborhood. Those modern service bays of ours are not a separate profit center. They’re another satisfaction center.

Our goal is simple: Exceed customers’ expectations, because our success is in their hands.
Here’s something we do that is not expected in our market: We trust our customers. We treat them with dignity and respect. We thoroughly explain the terms of our sales. We put out the facts, and then we let the customers decide.
We also think our customers deserve a better experience than what many used car dealerships provide. We offer a modern, professional, and sophisticated environment. We know what buying a used car can be like, particularly for people who have experienced credit problems and challenges. We don’t want our customers to experience anxiety or distrust. And we don’t want there to be a failure. We simply want great relationships with satisfied customers.
