Aug 10, 2009 J.D. Byrider to open Raleigh location
Performance improvements spur new stores RALEIGH, N.C. – Raleigh residents will have another used car option when a new J.D. Byrider location opens in September.
Raleigh store owners Lloyd and Chris Thomas have experience in both franchising and the automotive industry. Lloyd is the former owner of an Ethan Allen furniture franchise, and Chris has worked on both the sales and finance sides of the automotive industry for 10 years. Additionally, for the last 18 months, Chris managed the J.D. Byrider location in Maumee, Ohio. Although the Thomases are originally from Ohio, Chris, his wife, and their children recently relocated to Raleigh so Chris can manage the day-to-day operations of the new store.
Spurring the new locations is an improvement is the company’s portfolio performance. According to Steve Wedding, president - Byrider Franchising, Inc., the company’s portfolio performance has lead to an 11 percent decrease in charge-offs – loans that are deemed uncollectible and written off – as well as decreases in one-day, 10-day and 30-day delinquencies when compared to the same time last year. “With these economic conditions, our customers’ jobs are their number one priority, and our cars provide the reliable transportation necessary for getting to and from work,” said Wedding. “The decrease in charge-offs and delinquencies show how vital transportation is to getting and keeping a job.”
In addition to the Raleigh location, J.D. Byrider is set to open a new company-owned store in Cincinnati later this month, and a new franchise location will open in New Orleans in September. With the three new locations, J.D. Byrider will have 128 locations in 30 states with plans to open additional stores later this year.
