Stewart signed autographs, did media interviews and spoke to local racing fans as well as J.D. Byrider employees from the two locations:
"I always love seeing the fans turn out for events like this. These are real people. And, I always appreciate the job that J.D. Byrider does on these events. They take good care of their customers," said Stewart.
Brent Newman, president of J.D. Byrider company stores, noticed a link between Stewart’s appearances in the Bay area and his victory in a major race the following week:
“We hope this appearance played a part in Tony's win at Talladega the Sunday after. It seems that, more often than not, whenever Tony's with us on Thursday night and races the following Sunday, he wins. Maybe he should hang out at a Byrider every Thursday..."
Whether or not the interaction with fans played a part in Stewart’s victory, the appearances did convince a Tampa J.D. Byrider employee that NASCAR is king in Florida:
"This is amazing!" said Greg Martinez, Sales Manager from the Hillsborough Avenue dealership. "I knew NASCAR was big, but it's really great to see this many people turn out to support the guy that we support."
